For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. — Philippians 1:21

The obsessive designer of the old USSR was Vladimir Lenin.

No matter how much we regret Lenin's fanaticism and all the evil that resulted from it, we must admit that his unwavering dedication not only enabled him to achieve his objectives but also had a profound impact on the path of human history.

What drives us the most? Is there a cause, activity, pastime, or project that ignites our passion, concentrates our efforts, and demands the unwavering investment of our time, attention, and resources? What value does our desire actually have in the light of what God says has eternal significance?

The apostle Paul stated a noble objective when he said, "None of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God" (Acts 20:24).

Knowing Jesus Christ and putting your faith in, loving, and serving Him is a passion that has eternal significance.

We cannot shine for Jesus until our hearts are on fire for God. Living for Jesus, who died in my place, taking the punishment for my sin and shame on the cross, such love compels me to respond to His call, follow His guidance, and offer Him my all.
