We are witnesses of all things which He did . . . , whom they killed by hanging on a tree. — Acts 10:39

 The cross at Calvary is referred to be a tree in Acts 10:39. Acts 5:30, Acts 13:29, Galatians 3:13, and 1 Peter 2:24 also use this terminology. 

The rough cross of Calvary might very easily be referred to as the Christmas tree that is ignored during this time when much focus is placed on the tree decorated with tinsel, ornaments, and coloured lights. Many individuals utterly miss the point of Jesus' earthly mission. The trappings, gift-giving, and partying associated with this occasion might obscure the genuine meaning of His birth. 

We must always remember what Christmas truly means. 

In Luke's account of events, the phrase "the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost" (Lk. 19:10) is used. The baby in Bethlehem was created to die. He came to earth to offer His life as a sin offering to be hanged on a tree—not a pretty ornament draped in tinsel, but a vile, terrible means of death.

Let's keep in mind that the Golgotha hill, where He was crucified and where He poured His blood for the sins of the world, is intimately connected to the memory of our Savior's birth in the stable in Bethlehem.

Don't let Christmas' forgotten tree be Calvary's cross. It's the most significant.

 

The message of the cradle contains a secret reference to the cross's purpose. This joyful time of year should serve as a reminder that everyone has access to new life because of Jesus' death on the cross.
