The apostle Paul was aware that at the end of time, only one judgement would be significant—that of the supreme umpire, the "righteous Judge" before whom we play the game of life (2 Timothy 4:8).
Paul was sitting in a chilly, damp cell when he began writing his second letter to Timothy. Paul had persisted, much like an athlete who had used all of his energy to claim the trophy. Many people had persuaded him to cheat in the race, give up, or compromise his religion during his 30 years of preaching. Paul, however, had made the decision not to pay attention to the opinions of the throng. He simply needed to win over one Judge. He was prepared to confront the cosmic umpire.
Are you also prepared to meet Him?
The only verdict that matters is God's. No matter what others do, simply live your life before your Lord. His judgement will be just and true because He will evaluate your deeds.
