Despite the giant foes and their walled cities, Caleb was unfazed. He responded, "Let us go up right away and take possession, for we have the courage that comes from faith." He declared, "Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it" (Num. 13:30) with a courage inspired by faith. He had faith in God's promise that Israel would inherit the land, and despite what seemed to be insurmountable difficulties, he did not back down.

Faith is the thread that binds God's strength to our frailty. Lord, strengthen our faith and open our eyes. Help us to take Thee at Thy simple Word and stop bringing Thee anguish with our icy mistrust. Lord, we believe! Help our doubt, O God.
