The fate of Abigail's family and slaves was grim (1 Sam. 25). Her husband had insulted David and his warriors. When a crisis occurred, Abigail showed leadership qualities. She pleaded for David's mercy with dignity and bravery. She subdued his rage with kindness and humility, saving her family in the process.
The Lord does not demand that we forgive everyone who has harmed us. He also forbids us from confronting people with rage and insults. Being kind and brave like Abigail is something His Spirit can help us achieve.
Making a point while being gentle prevents us from alienating anyone. O be courageous every day till the end; go forth in the might of the Lord; put your complete faith in Jesus, your Friend and Saviour; and fill yourself with His own glorious Word.
