 The Lord Jesus declared, "It is finished!" when He finished the labour and the agony He had undergone on the cross at Calvary (Jn. 19:30). There is only one word spoken by the Lord Jesus in the original language that John used to write these words: tetelestai. One word, not three—that's it. 

It was the yell of victory, completion, and consummation. The Saviour revealed a fact in this one word, a fact so amazing that the devil has been working hard ever since to keep the significance of Jesus' final triumphal shout from people's thoughts.

As a result, there are countless numbers of genuine, devout, and yearning souls that want for tranquilly and rest but have not yet understood that redemption is a finished task. Nothing further needs to be done. However, these kind individuals toil and make sacrifices in the hopes that their efforts would win God's favour. 

Once more, join me as we face that cross. Hear the Savior's resounding shout, "It is finished," in the midst of that gloomy darkness when God concealed His face. The graves were opened, the rocks broke, and the earth trembled at that same instant (Mt. 27:51–52). His salvation has been accomplished. What a relief it is to be able to exclaim, "Praise God, it is finished for me!"
