Some individuals think of God as a supernatural change agent who caters to their every whim, a sort of celestial genie that appears before them and fulfils their every desire.
People with such egotistical demands have a very limited understanding of God and His redeeming plan for the world. They view Him as someone who exists to fulfil their needs and desires, lessen all of their pain, and enhance the quality of their existence. In contrast to the Bible, they may obtain that kind of image of God from secular literature.
Any effort to force a sovereign God to serve our own self-serving interests is an insult to Him. James also compared selfish prayer to "friendship with the world," claiming that it is "enmity with God" (Jas. 4:3–4).
Let's examine our prayers throughout the coming days. It's time to alter our prayers if they are typically performed for our personal comfort, pleasure, or convenience.
Prayer is a moment to report for duty rather than to issue orders. Please pardon us for our selfish requests.
