No man can tame the tongue. — James 3:8

 A tiger, lion, leopard, cheetah, and other wild creatures can be domesticated, especially if you work with them from infancy. The human speech, however, cannot be controlled, according to the apostle James. He declared, "It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison" (3:8).

James also utilized other striking comparisons to demonstrate the huge power of this tiny body part. A horse can be turned to the right or left by a bit in its mouth (v. 3). In a violent storm, a ship's rudder can guide a large vessel (v. 4).

A fire that can completely devastate a forest can be started by a single match or even a little spark (v. 5). The tongue is a little organ, but it has the potential to cause a lot of damage.

The tongue's wild nature lurks ominously below the surface, even with the strictest self-control and ongoing supervision. You may tame a tiger, but you cannot control your tongue unless through prayer and vigilance.

One who cannot control their tongue cannot speak well. Lord, keep an eye on my lips.

tongue restraint today;

Please help me to assess each idea.

and watch what I say.
