 We must align our personal understanding of the Bible with God's revealed truth otherwise we risk falling into some grave error. Give me an example. 

Some individuals reinterpret biblical prohibitions on certain sexual behaviors. They remark, "Well, that's how you interpret the Bible," to defend immorality. When confronted with Scriptures that unambiguously forbid having sex outside of marriage, they "turn their ears away from the truth" (2 Timothy 4:4). 

Even when the Bible says something we don't want to hear, we must obey it because it reveals the nature of God. Because of this, we must constantly question, "What does it say?"
