Every so often, a scholar will declare what he believes to be a unique contribution to human knowledge. Congratulations, if it's the case. But frequently, the newly discovered fact is simply an age-old truth that the Bible has propagated over the years.
This "discovery" that we are, to use modern terminology, "dysfunctional" is really a rediscovering and a restatement of the inspired verdict of the apostle Paul that "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Rom. 3:23).
But what can we do about this common failure to relate to God and one another as we should? Researchers frequently put up novel solutions to irritable maladjustments. However, there is only one sure-fire remedy that addresses the long-term effects of sin and makes it possible to resist its temptation today. It conveys the idea that once we place our personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, God's grace is at work in our lives (6:23).
Have you just learned this old fact now?
