Many Christians are distressed and anxious. Their souls are still in turmoil even though they are enjoying the "rest" of redemption that comes with sin forgiveness and are anticipating the eternal "rest" of paradise. They appear to be constantly weighed down by the troubles of life, filled with fear and doubt.
Their source of distress can be identified by taking a deeper look at their anxiousness. They lack the "quietness and confidence" (Isa. 30:15) that comes from daily fellowship with the Lord through Bible study and prayer because they have never learned to rest in the Lord.
Don't allow yourself to fall prey to pointless worrying. If you do, you'll forfeit the happiness and calm that are naturally yours. Instead, allot some time each day to communicate with God and express your gratitude for who He is and what He has done for you. Reading His Word and holding fast to His consoling promises will help your faith develop, and a spiritual calm will overflow into your heart.
In response, Jesus responded, "Come to Me, and I will give you rest" (Mt. 11:28). Do you know how to rest in Him?
God gives us His serenity in our hearts when we entrust Him with our worries.
