The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer. — Psalm 18:2

David had a number of issues of his own. Assailants threatened him (v. 3), and "the pangs of death" and "the floods of ungodliness" around him (v. 4).

What possible chance could there be for him? Would he receive assistance in the shape of cash, troops, strong arms, or bystanders who would come to his aid? Instead, David's assistance came from an unending source—the Lord, whom he referred to as "my rock and my fortress and my deliverer" (v. 2).

David experienced difficulty, just like all of us. But as Psalm 18 shows, when our issues are compared to our Lord's power, there is no contest.

Are you in trouble? Pray to the Lord. Your voice will always reach him.

When you put your faith in God, nothing is beyond hope. Even in my darkest hour, the Lord will use His strength to prosper me; His sacrificial grace will undoubtedly overflow; and I will be discovered in His tender care.
