Donkeys are frequently derided in public discourse.
These proverbs ignore the contributions of a truly priceless creature. The human species has used donkeys for thousands of years. They were previously treasured as representations of kindness, serenity, and humility.
Donkeys that had never been ridden were thought to be especially ideal for religious uses in the time of the Bible. So it was entirely appropriate for Jesus to request a colt to transport Him into Jerusalem as part of His regal duties. How admirable that donkey's task was! How similar to our mission as followers of Jesus!
In order to follow Christ, we too must be freed from earthly ties, just as Jesus did with the donkey (Mk. 11:4-5). Are we ready to work like donkeys?
When done for God, humble effort is transformed into holy work. Teach me how to perform the meek assignment
