The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. — 1 Corinthians 1:18

One of the most agonising methods of execution the evil human mind has concocted is the cross. We struggle to understand how the Son of God could be killed in such a heinous way. Today, however, the cross is frequently worn by those who do not understand its profound spiritual importance or utilised as little more than a decoration.

What thoughts do folks who pass by the rusted emblem have? What matters more is how they react to its message. Does the cross just represent a passing fad (1 Corinthians 1:18)? Or does it remind you of the blood freely shed by Christ for our atonement?

According to Paul, the "wisdom of this age" is incapable of understanding the mysticism that is God's plan of salvation. We can only comprehend the "foolishness" of the cross by the power of the Holy Spirit (2:13–14).

How do you interpret the cross?

The worst of man's sin and the greatest of God's love are displayed on the cross. When I look at the magnificent cross on which the Prince of Glory died, I count my greatest gain as a loss and despise all I have to be proud of.
