There are many secrets in Washington, D.C. Some estimate there to be 3 billion! However, not all of them are true secrets that protect the security of the country. Many of these records deal with risky medical research done on people years ago without their knowledge or consent. Others include agreements and invoices that civilian manufacturers—who are frequently guilty of outrageous overcharging—have labelled as "confidential." As a result, numerous individuals and businesses are being sued.
Like Washington, life is full with mysteries. Most secrets are unimportant and inconsequential. However, some people are evil and tragic, as the reading from the Bible today demonstrates. How about hidden sins?
Even if we may be able to effectively conceal them from others, God has set a day when He, who "knows the thoughts of the heart" (Psalm 44:21), "will bring every work into judgement, including every secret thing" (Ecclesiastes 12:14), will do.
Bring such hidden information to light. Declare your sins right away to receive the total purification made possible by the Savior's death (1 John 1:9).
God is openly scandalised by our concealed transgressions. God knows what is in your heart, so you cannot hide your sin from Him; confession is the easiest method to do this.
