Jesus invites us to abide by the laws of His real world, which is the one we live in today. His laws compel us to act with honesty, care, and accountability. Employees become more dependable and content when they put them into practise. Additionally, employers place equal value on employee welfare and financial success. The outcome? More people avoid the unemployment and welfare rolls.
Paul offered recommendations to both employers and employees. He exhorted employees to perform their tasks "as bondservants of Christ,... as to the Lord, and not to men" (Eph. 6:6-7). In addition, he warned employers not to use force against their employees and reaffirmed that their Master is impartial (v. 9).
Sincere work is always rewarded with more than what is paid for it. Who are we? Do we abide by the guidelines Jesus provided us for real-world behaviour?
