Early in the morning, you are up and exercising. You won't allow your heart to weaken! Your diet now has less fat. You have routine cholesterol tests. To keep your cardiovascular system in top shape, you exercise four times per week.
However, you've let your spiritual heart to deteriorate. You've disregarded the eternal in favour of the fleeting. Nowadays, you don't often read the Bible. Your prayers are lists of requests made to God to improve your quality of life and eliminate your agony. You can't remember what the pastor said by the time you get to the church door after the service because you were preoccupied with something else.
It's time to enrol in a spiritual heart-care programme if this applies to you.
It begins by stating that God is fully aware of your heart, just as David (a man after God's own heart) said in Psalm 139. Psalm 51:10 continues, "Create in me a clean heart, O God." In Psalm 19:14, the consequence is the request, "Let the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord."
It makes sense to take care of your body, but it makes even more sense to develop spiritual fitness by spending time with the Lord. What a valuable exercise regimen that is!
Continue to walk with the Lord to stay spiritually fit. Take my heart and my hand, Lord, and grant me this, I beg You: that by Your lovely love I may become more and more like You every day.
