 Someone once inquired about a missionary's pay. The questioner was aware that it couldn't be much, and he was curious as to why someone would give so freely of themselves to assist complete strangers while receiving such meagre compensation. 

When Paul wrote to the Thessalonian believers, he must have had a similar idea in mind. What is our hope, joy, or crown of rejoicing? he asked, speaking to those he had brought to the Saviour. Are you not the one? (1 Th. 2:19). 

How encouraging it is to hear of Christians whose greatest satisfaction is seeing others choose Christ and mature spiritually in a time when there is so much emphasis on earning material prosperity.

Do you regularly invite others to hear the gospel? The best salary of all will be given to you if you are. You'll experience exhilarating fulfilment on this planet, and you can anticipate much more recompense in paradise! 

Work for the Lord—the retirement benefits are extraordinary. God does not reward people with items that rot and expire, but whoever does God's task will receive God's reward regardless of what happens.
