This left them open to being raided by criminal gangs as they travelled. To get confirmation of God's protection, the people fasted and prayed. They then started their journey after taking all necessary precautions. They arrived safely in Jerusalem and sacrificed thanksgiving offerings to the Lord.
The combination of prayer, service, and praise is one that honours God.
Work as if your success depends on it, and pray as if it depends on God. Keep your faith and courage, and don't leave your place of prayer. The God of the universe always appears to His children there.
