A devoted preacher will strengthen his congregation, and a devoted congregation will strengthen its preacher.
Church leaders are urged to keep an eye on their flock in Hebrews 13:17 because they are ones who must answer to God. Although it's a big task, that's what God has given them to perform. The congregation's members are also reminded of their obligation in the same verse. They are instructed to defer to their leaders' decisions. They must submit to them and be receptive to their criticism so that their leaders will experience joy rather than sorrow as they work to faithfully carry out the tasks that God has given them.
What a tragedy that so many churches have never understood this!
They might berate their pastor on six days a week while neglecting to hear him preach with passion on the seventh.
Let's strengthen one another via caring for one another, no matter where we fit in the body of Christ. We will then delight in watching pastors and their flocks being fed and nurtured by one another rather than devouring one another.
A good word from God's people is necessary for pastors who preach God's Word. The devoted pastor leads with love; he serves the church on behalf of God; may our criticism perish and make his joy grow.
