Some parts of society consider those of us who think that God has absolute moral standards to be simpleton intolerant. It is advised that we refrain from criticizing certain immoral actions.
Amazing parallels exist between the situation we are in today and the one Jeremiah faced 2,600 years ago. The populace was shameless. They didn't blush at any perversion. Even the religious authorities participated in this awful situation!
However, Jeremiah declared God's wrath and foretold impending divine judgment. The prophet urged people to follow the "old paths, where the good way is" (v. 16), i.e., the paths of repentance and submission to God.
When Jesus welcomed people who "labor and are heavy laden" to come to Him (Matthew 11:28), He demonstrated the right path for us to follow. He also assured us that His "yoke is easy" and "burden is light" (v. 30).
