Any representation of a deity in art poses a risk. No created item can fully and accurately represent God. God gave Israel the prohibition against creating any representations of celestial or terrestrial objects to serve as objects of worship. Such representations desecrate God by distorting His grandeur, which might encourage sin.
Worshipping an idolized representation of one of the three persons of the Trinity obscures God's splendor. It misdirects us. According to John 4:24, "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
While God created us in His image, we are unable to create Him in ours.
