[God] comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble. — 2 Corinthians 1:4

People who have recently experienced a loss are not in the right frame of mind for intellectual activities. They require the solace that can only come from God. For us to be able to comfort others with the same comfort that God provides for us, we must first feel God's consolation (2 Corinthians 1:4). Only then can we be His channels of blessing.

By offering up prayers for the grieving, demonstrating our concern, performing little acts of kindness, and speaking as He directs, we can serve as His agents. But let's never lose sight of the fact that He provides the necessary comfort in whatever we accomplish.

Thank You, Lord, for giving us solace while we were in need. Use us to cheer up those who are grieving.

God doesn't give us comfort to make us feel good; rather, he makes us into comforters.

A life that is shattered by grief
can empathize with another person's suffering and give out the lovely fragrance of love that will ease their heart.
