 Some of the pastors who led churches there gathered in the spring of 1993 to discuss their feelings and experiences. They all concurred that after experiencing the hurricane's horrific strength, everyone realized just how defenseless and exposed humans actually are. Despite our pride in our technological advancements, there are occasions when we must humbly acknowledge that "we are not in charge." The phrase "The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord" (Job 1:21) was uttered by a few of the people whose faith was put to the test.

Is your faith in God so strong that you will humbly rely on His knowledge, goodness, and mercy no matter what happens? You will be able to face challenges without giving up if you put your trust in God.

God does not offer safety from life's storms, but rather safety during them. My times are in Your hands; why should I be afraid or in doubt?

Never will My Father's hand make His child shed an unnecessary tear.
