The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. — Mark 2:27

God's demand to work is a crucial component of the fourth commandment (Ex. 20:9), a point that is sometimes overlooked. Legitimate labour, when done in harmony with sufficient rest, honors God and has eternal meaning (Eph. 6:5-8). The fundamental reality of this commandment is that.

But keeping a day of rest has greater spiritual importance. We need a regular period of reflection on our relationship with God—a rest not only for bodily restoration but also for spiritual regeneration—even if we must avoid all legalistic attitudes and behaviors towards it (Rom. 14:5–6). We must reflect on what Christ accomplished for us on the cross and enjoy the peace that results from fully putting our faith in His finished work (Heb.

Do we need to reexamine this ancient mandate regarding God's day of rest?

The remainder of the week has importance because of our rest day. We will continually be regenerated if we make time for enjoyment and play, rest along life's bustling path, and when we stop to kneel and pray.
